That was a particularly bad idea.

Some (Admittedly Late) Summer Reading (etc.)
Aug 30th
Recently, after finding myself with rather more booktokens than I would usually know what to do with, I’ve been reading quite a few books recently- and thought that I’d post my latest reading list here:
- Battle royale
by Koushun Takami. While graphically violent, it definitely served the plot very well and proved to be a most excellent and gripping novel and was impossible to put down- the dystopian backstory certainly adds to the plot.
- Flow, My Tears, the Policeman Said
by Philip K. Dick, a true science-fiction masterwork; and definitely a story with several more reads in it for me. I also purchased Dr. Bloodmoney- but have misplaced that when coming back from Cornwall.
- Python in a Nutshell
from the O’Reilly press; a very fast paced book about python which Timothéus picked up for me at GUADEC for a happily reduced price.
- Not
strictlyreading, but for some music I wholeheartedly recommend Peter Gabriel’s 3, 4
and Still Growing Up Live (DVD)
.
Mac Heist and Guitar
Jul 11th
Mac Heist has been at it again with another heist which is listed as a skunk works heist in partnership with Mac Update, and as usual they are generously offering free stuffs in the way of the excellent IRC client Linkinus and have bolstered the programs in the bundle by including private beta access to Flow and Pixelmator, (albeit I haven’t received their email yet though).
In almost equally exciting news (for you perhaps, but personally I find this much more exciting) my electric guitar has recently arrived. And it is awesome. Unfortunately it did arrive a few days later than originally hoped- but otherwise Thomann have been exceptionally good value and lots of help when I ordered.

Thanks to Niklas

After an interesting chat with Niklas regarding my desire to learn the guitar he coded my a nice shell script to download me some youtube videos.
No, this is the last post for now.
Barenaked ladies in concert.
Apr 1st
I’ve just got back from seeing the barenaked ladies live with an old friend in the Southampton guildhall.
They were awesome.
Truly the last post until after the exams now.

Illegal Eagles
Nov 22nd
I’ve just been to see the Illegal Eagles perform, and what can I say? They were terrific, and as soon as they started playing peaceful, easy feeling I knew that I’d really enjoy the concert and they showed a really wide range of songs. After the concert I bought a CD of their original work and got it signed, and so far it sounds really good.
